The sorter is responsible for day-to-day itemization, sorting, and pricing of donated items. This individual works with the floor lead to ensure the efficient flow of merchandise from the warehouse to the sales floor.
Essential job functions: Responsible for itemizing and sorting merchandise and for determining which items should be retained for sale. · Place price tags on items to be sold based on established guidelines relative to the condition of the items. · Place tagged merchandise on racks or in sorting bins as the final stage of preparation for movement to the sales floor. · Receive deliveries of merchandise via truck and/or directly from donors. · Comply with the strict policy of confidentiality at all times in all matters related to customers, donors, and co-workers. · Assist Production Supervisor with coordination of efficient transfer of merchandise from the warehouse to the sales floor. · Assist Production with setting of displays in the store as needed for enhanced sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain clean, organized work area while meeting or exceeding regular productivity, quality and safety standards.
Perform all work activities in accordance with established safety procedures.
Inspect donated merchandise (shoes, purses, clothing, linens, housewares, books, toys, equipment, electronics, jewelry) as assigned for marketability, recycling or disposal.
Safely stock, store and label marketable merchandise on shelves or racks in the warehouse area.
Safely relocate unmarketable stock to the recycling or disposal area as appropriate.
Duties may be accomplished by lifting, placing, carrying, pushing, rolling, banding, packaging or operating material handling equipment
Provide timely communication back to the Store Manager regarding any changes or issues experienced while sorting merchandise.
Greet internal and external customers with courtesy such as “Good morning”, “Good afternoon”, “Please” and “Thank you” to establish good customer relations.
Listen to and resolve customer service inquiries and complaints.
Immediately reports any accidents or injuries to management.

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Detail-oriented and able to write.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Knowledge of current fashion trends is preferred.
Knowledge or ability to learn to safely operate material handling equipment.
Knowledge or ability to learn computer software systems.
Ability to stand/walk for 8 to 10 hours.
Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate object, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
Perform repetitive motions necessary to move merchandize and materials.
Employee will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.
Ability to routinely lift and/or move up to 30 pounds with or without the use of a hand truck for distances up to 25 feet. For transporting any weight 25 feet or beyond requires the use of a hand truck (or the aid of some alternate material handling equipment). Employee may occasionally be required to transport and move up to 200 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant and color vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
